Neighborhood garden

We live in a "planned community" with several green spaces. Just a block away from our house is a large park with a formal garden area.

When I passed it today, I noticed that the peonies are in full bloom, so I stopped and took a few photos. This is such a pretty place to sit when you're walking or riding your bike.

That's awesome. Who takes care of it? It looks so peaceful. Are there benches where you can just sit and enjoy it?

Thanks! There are benches around the garden, too. It's a lovely place to sit. I feel lucky to have pretty places like this nearby. :-)

We have a neighborhood association that oversees all the green spaces in our development. A portion of our dues goes to upkeep of these kinds of spaces. A landscaping company maintains the beds.

The peonies are a relatively recent addition. Initially, the beds were filled with roses but they didn't do well. The peonies seem to be doing great!

So envious! We have a planned community with common areas as well. One close to our home was professionally landscaped a few years ago (the HOA board is trying to decide which to do next), but it's nowhere near as gorgeous as yours. :)

Beautiful!! I haven't seen that area. Janis and I only have seen the prairie. Does the HOA oversee it as well?

Thank you! I feel fortunate to live in a neighborhood with planned green spaces.
Sarah - Ours hasn't always looked so nice, either. It's taken some trial and error to find the right plants for various spaces. The peonies seem to like it there!

Sharon - This garden is close to the gazebo, in case you're in the neighborhood! And yes, the HOA oversees the prairie areas, with assistance from local experts. We have a grounds committee which leads all of these efforts.
