Hey, what's in YOUR freezer?

My friend, Sharon, asked me recently if I'd heard about freezing candle jars to loosen the remaining wax.

Oh, yes, I've definitely heard about it! In fact, I catch a lot of grief around here because you won't find much edible in our freezer. It's full of forgotten candle jars. :-)

I've done the candle in the freezer trick before. It really works! Hey, we've got one up on you here at work though...It's not uncommon at all for me to go to our break room (I work in I.T.) and find a hard drive in our freezer! Yep, a hard drive. Apparently when they crash you can sometimes get them working again if you cool them off. Go figure. LOL

so what do you do once it is frozen? Take out the wax and throw it away?? So why would you keep the candle...I'm confused!

Heather - I have NEVER heard of that! Too funny!

Katie - If you've every tried to get wax out of a candle container, it can be very difficult. Putting it in the freezer causes the wax to constrict somewhat. Once the wax hardens, you can loosen it and throw it out, then recycle or reuse the glass container! :-)

LOL There are candles, frozen fish from a fishing trip, a wooden hammer, ice packs for whatever joint needs to be cooled, and coffee in my freezer. I bet y'all are wondering about the wooden hammer. It's for breaking up ice bought in the bag in the summertime. :)

Hm, lol, go figure! I love the idea of recycling the containers...if I ever manage to actually FINISH a candle I'll try to remember, lol

Now in my freezer...are you ready??? There's actually FOOD in there!! OMG:)
No hard drives (though need to ask software engineer DH if he's ever heard of Heather's trick), no candles, no wooden hammer (heehee), just food and ice packs for school lunches. No money either (parents used to do that) :)

Ha! I never thought about that (puts away the sharp knife she usually digs into old candles). What a great idea!
