Feline Friday: Damien

Meet Damien, the kitty we adopted after we moved to our first house.

Damien, my vanilla and caramel kitty. Damien, who I think every morning when I put cream in my coffee until it turns a lovely caramel color, just like his fur.

Damien, the most aptly named of all cats. Damien, who eventually grew to 19 pounds and (because of his viciousness) had to go live with my parents on the day Daughter was born. Damien, who once put my dad in the hospital. Damien, who sucked a blanket before he went to sleep. Damien, who ate part of stuffed Mealy the Mouse's head and nearly succumbed to intestinal blockage. Damien, who tumbled into a cactus patch as a baby kitten before we brought him home from the farm. Damien, who fell asleep on my lap as I pulled thorns from his paws. Damien, the legendary cat who our vet still remembers, years after his untimely death.

Damien, my first true kitty love.

Aw, I don't believe all those stories ;)

He was much too cute to have been a terror!

(Nah, I do believe you, but he was still the cutest ever!)

Awww. Such a sweet memory of Damien. And I agree with Linda. He looks too cute to be vicious

He's absolutely adorable, but I see a little gleam in his eyes there;) I don't think he looks evil, just mischievous and curious! Such stories Janet tells, tsk tsk tsk.

I do believe the hospital story though...cat bites and scratches really can become infected rather easily. What is normal bacteria in a cat's mouth is oftentimes a pathogen for a human:(

Damien is/was very cute. My first kitty love was Cinnamon...that cat was a PITA....lol....but I loved him.

Thanks, guys! I loved him so much and miss him terribly. He was really naughty sometimes, quite mean. If something made him mad, his ears would sort of swivel around and lay flat to his head, then he'd go on the attack. He'd clamp into your arm or leg and not let go. It was really bad! But otherwise, he was precious! ;-)

Cheri-That's exactly what happened to Dad. Damien got outside one time and Dad tried to bring him back in. They ended up wrestling and dad got some severe bites in the process. His hand swelled up like a football and he was on IV antibiotics for 3 days. It was terrible. I felt awful about that. That is why we couldn't have Damien in the same house with DD--he was pretty unpredictable. You never knew when he would do something like that.

Kristina-I love the name Cinnamon for a kitty! Sweet and spicy! :-)

OH! Well I guess the antibiotics story would be the hospital story then wouldn't it?!? Ooops...

My cat Sugar used to be very unpredictable. He gave my ex-MIL a HUGE bruise once. But he's been SOOOOOOOOOOO much happier ever since my divorce (my ex husband used to pick him up by his tail) and since we got him his own kitten. He rarely even hisses anymore.

Beautiful little guy. I love the photo. Sounds like he was quite the character. :)
