Food Fights

We're in the midst of a protracted re-decorating project. As such, the ladder has become a permanent fixture in our family room. In fact, DH suggested we have it upholstered. Um, no.

Since Lily's sole mission in life is to eat all of Tinsel's food, we've taken to feeding Tinsel up on the ladder.

Yesterday, I thought I'd document a typical meal time:

First, Tinsel enjoys a few morsels on the ladder's paint shelf. Notice how she's watching out of the corner of her eye. Good thing, too, because she has barely started to eat, when...

trouble, with a capital L, appears on the scene. In a matter of seconds...

fighting ensues. Man, Eukanuba Indoor Cat Formula must be very tasty to cause all of this discord. Poor Tinsel can't hold her own for long...

...and she soon jumps from the ladder. I'll bet you can predict the rest of the story.

Miss Piggy strikes again.

I always wonder how the cats decide who gets to eat what. Our cat Sugar Tov who is older & who we had first and who is meaner and less skittish than Nimue ALWAYS lets Nimue eat first. Even when Nimue was a kitten, Sugar would always let Nimue eat first.

Well, Sugar Tov is certainly polite. Tinsel sometimes yields to Lily, not out of politeness but only because she is bullied into it. Mealtime is a nightmare around here!

Our cats are like that as well... Dakotah, the youngest, is the bully.

She even gives the dog a good cuffing to steal from her water bowl.

Last night the canine was hiding between my legs from the black cat who is smaller than her. Big sissy.

LOL! Cats are such a hoot! We have seven and it amazes me how our elderly cats will sit back and let the youngsters eat before them. It's really quite heartwarming HOWEVER all bets are off when it comes to catnip...EVERY CAT FOR THEMSELF!! LOL!

OMG! That Lily just kills me. She is always up to something. I thought my kids were bad, lol. I have to keep them at opposite sides of the table. You never know what will happen.

Sabrina - is that what it is do you think? Letting the younger one eat first? There's never been *any* bullying that I've noticed...of course I don't generally have the time to monitor my cats' bullying tendencies... :-)
