This time, I happened to witness it.
First, the suspect checked to be sure the coast was clear.
Next, gnawing began around the lower portions of the bag.
Realizing some initial success, the suspect pulled vigorously on the bag until...
food flowed freely onto the floor, an unlimited supply of tasty Indoor Formula Morsels.
That is, until Mama got out the packing tape, now conveniently stored near the cat food.
Edited to add: The bag is now stored in the garage; the daily food is stored in a plastic container (Lily is busy gnawing on that, too). And yep, I could have stopped her from chewing the bag this time, but as usual, I wanted to document her naughtiness! :-)

Cats are so funny! I have to keep the cat food locked up so my Tiger doesn't do this!
Janet, that Lily is really too much! She is so cute.
They're so smart! I always look forward to the antics to be posted on your blog on Fridays! :)
I love your Feline Friday! I'm glad I'm not the only one with devilish cats!!
OMGosh! I can't count how many times I've seen THAT happen! LOVE cats!! ;)
My cat did this once...then I got smart and moved the bag...how great that you caught her in the act with photos!
LOL!! I love coming over here on Feline Friday - and I'm glad mine isn't the only cat who decides to help herself :)
Heh, heh. Yeah, I have to hide the dry food bags in the pantry (both cat AND dog food) from Dakotah who tries the same tactic.... and whenever the pantry doors are open, she tries to continue her dig for treasure. Just to save my back, I dispense dry food in Tupperware (well, I have so much since I sold it about 20 years ago) that I refill from the bags about once a week. As of yet, she hasn't quite perfected opening those!!!
Oh my cats do that EVERY TIME!!!! It drives me up a wall!!!!!
LOL My cats do the same thing. It doesn't matter that they have the same stuff in their food bowl. A fresh bag is never safe.
