Feline Friday: Lily's Whiskers

A few months ago, we noticed that one of Lily's whiskers had a kink on the very tip. It almost looked as if she'd been too close to a candle flame and had curled the end of it. (If you know Lily, getting too close to a candle is a very real possibility!)

Soon after that, we noticed that some of her eyebrow whiskers had developed the same curly tips, so we knew that it wasn't an accident. Nowadays, Lily sports a mixture of straight and curly whiskers.

Apparently, curly whiskers are a genetic trait found in some kitties. Nothing to worry about, and Lily's kinky, curly whiskers give her character.

Not that she needs any more character, mind you! :-)

Sweet Lily! I would have never known that about the whiskers though... :)

Now I'm going to have to check out my boys' whiskers and see if they have any curly whiskers. Who would have thought? Thanks for sharing. That Lily is something else, isn't she?

Curly whiskers rule! But in Devon Rex cats, our curly whiskers are very brittle and break easily. I have a pretty full set on one side of my face, and some whisker nubs on the other side!

Lily has gorgeous whiskers! Glad it's just a trait and nothing more. Poor Cali did get too close to a candle one time....still gives me chills to think about.

Cute curly whiskers and they give Lily tons of personality!

She is a cutie. I just noticed that Tiger has some whiskers that are black, very odd but I guess it will give her character too. :)

Oh, she is too cute! I have to say that because she looks like my Gracie. I could just give her 100 kisses!

I didn't know that about whiskers either! I don't think Shugee or Nimue have any, but now I'll have to look. Except, Shugee wants to bite my face off right now, so I'm going to wait until later.

I will be examining my cats' whiskers next time I'm that close to them... :) Beautiful photo!

Heehee...I thought _I_ was the only weird person who pays attention to animal whiskers (well, and also baby/children's eyelashes, but that's an ENTIRELY separate topic;)
