Feline Friday

This week in Lily's adventuresome life:

Waiting for Meowmy to get up in the morning! Notice that one of Meowmy's socks is inside out. :)

Enjoying our newly recovered Danish modern chairs! Lily never lays on furniture so we know she must approve!

Sporting a wet nose from eating canned food from a bowl! When Lily ate from a plate, her nose never got wet like this. It's completely adorable.

Happy Feline Friday, friends!

Feline Friday

Yikes, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted! All is well at our house.

We enjoyed a lovely Christmas with the kids visiting for the first time since last holiday season.

We had so much fun that Lily was tuckered out! It’s pitiful when you fall asleep on your Christmas stocking!

Here's to a happy and healthy new year!

Feline Friday

The last few weeks have been super busy for me, as we're getting ready for some big online classes at Memory Bound. As you can see, Lily is not at all helpful with kit assembly!
She likes to be near me but will rarely stay awake to see what I'm doing. I guess she finds all of this crafty stuff pretty boring!

Actually, she must find MUCH of what I do pretty boring, as she spends most of our time together asleep!

But awake or asleep, I still love to have her company!

Feline Friday with Rory

In the years since our daughter and son-in-law have been in Texas, we've learned about these little lizard creatures. During the summer months, they're ALL around the house -- often on the windows, as you see here. They can even change colors to match their surroundings!

Along with birds, squirrels, and butterflies, these little guys provide endless hours of entertainment for Rory.

And if one happens to sneak inside the house, as they like to do when the weather gets cooler, watch out! Rory is a fierce protector of the home turf and will carry those lizards around to show them who's boss!

At least when she's awake! 😉

Feline Friday

Lily has become quite the messy eater in her senior years. She pushes food off of her plate and onto her placemat where is sticks and dries. In fact, I became concerned that she might have a problem with her teeth so I had the vet check them at her last visit. Thankfully, her toofers are fine!

So I switched her from a plate to a bowl in an effort to keep the food more confined. Now her little nose gets totally wet when she eats. I'm not sure we've solved the messy food station problem, but she sure looks adorable!

Feline Friday

Is it Friday? It's been a really busy week for Lily's Meowmy. Believe it or not, I'm already starting on Christmas projects for the store!

As for Lily, she's had a calm week! Life is back to normal for her. She has her dining room sunny spots back, so she's quite happy!

One of these days, I'll finish cleaning the dining room and putting everything back in its proper place.

But as long as the sunbeams are back, Lily likes it just fine!

Feline Friday

The dining room project is wrapping up this week, and Lily couldn't be happier! She's not keen on walking on the paper and plastic, so I'm giving her rides up and down the stairs. Of course, I'm happy to be at her service. 😀

Because of the stairs being covered, I had move her main litterbox from the landing up to the guest bedroom. At night, I have been keeping her in that room so that she has easy access to the potty and I don't have to worry about her going up and down the stairs -- or having an accident because her litterbox is not where it should be!

In the evenings after the crew leaves, she enjoys hanging out in the family room -- close to the snacks, of course.

It's no hardship for her to be confined to the guest room. She has everything she needs, including room service!

Still, we'll all be happy to have this big project done!

Feline Friday

We are having our dining room, adjacent hallway, and half bath painted to match our kitchen. This week, they are doing prep to get ready for painting. Lily, being a creature of habit, insisted on taking her morning nap in the same spot, even though everything was out of place!

After Day 1, she still found the one remaining island of carpet. Poor thing looked so disoriented!

She walks ever so cautiously on the kraft paper and will barely step on the plastic. It feels so WEEEERD, Meowmy!

So Lily is spending her days shut in the upstairs guest room, away from the noise and disruption. Things are so out of kilter on the main floor that I positioned her in her Safe Space during the evening and overnight so she'd have easier access to her litter and water.

When I went in to check on her, she seemed to need a little reassurance. Is everything going to be OK, Meowmy? She repeatedly reached out to my hand with her little paw. It was the most precious gesture!

Yes, Lily, it's only paint! Soon -- well, maybe in a week -- everything will be back to normal...just another color!

Change is hard for everyone, kitties included!

Feline Friday: Now with Kittens!

Oh, I am sorry to excite anyone.

We don't have kittens in da house.

But my sister-in-law and her family have FIVE new kittens in their garage! Mama Kitty recently had her final litter before her upcoming scheduled spay day. Over the years she has produced some beautiful and very sweet kittens. By all accounts, these kittens are over-the-moon adorable!

Okay, raise your paw if you think this one looks like LILY!

And even though these babies are pretty new, they already have homes lined up! Kudos to my nieces for lining up forever homes for each one.

I only wish I could hold them myself and maybe sneak a couple home with me! :)

Happy Feline Friday!

Feline Friday: She Can See Clearly Now!

We had the windows washed and the gutters cleaned out this past week. It's not all that expensive to hire it done and frankly, it's a real treat to have clean windows!

We can't reach the second floor windows anyway so it's great to have the guys with the tall ladders just get it done!

Lately we've had had lots of bird activity in our yard, so Lily had a vested interested in the spring window cleaning! Now that the glass is clean, she's been keen to watch the finches who are contemplating building a nest on our front porch.

Lily says, "Thanks for the clean windows! Now I can see my feathered friends!"

Feline Friday

A few years ago, our daughter's kitty Rory competed in a Halloween costume contest at her vet's office each October. One year, she actually won (you can imagine how ridiculously excited we were!). To our surprise, she received a huge gift basket full of goodies.

One item in the prize package was this velvety soft purple blankie. Rory didn't care for it so Bailey passed it on to us to use for Lily, who naturally took to it immediately.

Now because I live under a rock 😉, I had never seen a blanket with an animal sewn to it. Since the back of it is covered with the Feliway product logo, I assumed it was a promotional item the vet's office had aquired and tucked into the gift basket. I actually envisioned that Feliway sprays and collars could be arranged around the stuffed cat to make an attractive display in the vet's waiting area.

That's the story I've told myself about this blankie for YEARS. I've told it to people who've come by the house. "Oh, that's a promotional display item from the vet's office to use with Feliway products like sprays and collars..."

Anyway, when the kids were home at Christmas, Bailey and I were talking about the blankie and I mentioned something about it being a promotional item for the vet's office.

MOM.

Haven't you seen these baby blankets?

What? No!

Or these?

MOM...they're everywhere.

So...indeed they are! I have now learned that blankies with animals sewn to them are a THING. The Feliway blankie is NOT a promotional item but a cat version of this type of blankie.

Who knew?

Regardless of its purpose, Lily absolutely loves her purple  blankie and uses it all the time. I now call it her "weighted blankie" when she's sleeping comfortably under it.

Now if only it were a tiny bit bigger!😻

Feline Friday

Is it Feline Friday...or should it be Meercat Monday?

Whatever the day, Lily loves a tiny taste of butter!

Feline Friday

While making dinner one night this week, Lily appeared on the chair.

Her Cheese Detector had indicated shredded mozzarella was in the house and she was determined not to miss out!

 I see it! Cheese!

Here it comes!

 I smell it!

 And now I'm tasting it!

 YUM! So delicious!

Happy Feline Friday to our friends!
Hope your weekend is filled with a treat as tasty as shredded mozzarella cheese!

Feline Friday: Winter Wonderland!

Last Friday, a big snowstorm hit us, just as the weather folks predicted. It took a long time to move through and in its wake, left us 11 inches of snow!

I might be in the minority, but I always say that if the weather folks predict a snowstorm, there'd better be one! I love a good snowstorm.

Lily was all bundled up during the snowstorm with not just one but TWO blankies!

In the morning, it looked like a winter wonderland in our back yard! Now keep in mind that I do NOT like driving on slick roads and I do NOT like being cold. But I do think the snow looks pretty, at least at first -- until it gets all dirty!

Spouse especially doesn't like the snow because it falls to him to clear it! The snowblower got a workout this time around. Shoutout to Spouse for doing a great job clearing the driveway and sidewalks after this storm and all the snowstorms through the years!

Lily says thanks, too! She wants Cat Dad to keep the driveway clear so Meowmy can get to the store to buy Temptations! 😍

Feline Friday

Sometime over the past weekend, it occurred to me that I completely MISSED last week's Feline Friday post! I can't remember that happening in a very, very long time. I totally spaced it off because our daughter and fiance were visiting for Christmas and there was just WAY TOO MUCH fun happening!

It had been two full years since they'd been home and let me tell you, that is MUCH, MUCH too long. Of course, we've seen them during that time but there's just something about having your child home that does a mama's heart good.

So Santa made an extra long stop at our house this year and he even brought a few goodies for Lily!  Her stocking reads "nice" on one side and "naughty" on the other. Obviously, Santa believes she has been a nice girl!

She was happy to see that Santa left her two cans of delicious pate food AND an extra large bag of Temptations! She promptly sat down on her stocking so that nobody else would take those very special treats!

As a side note, notice how Lily's stocking is adorned with pom poms! Our stockings received pom pom enhancements this year and, from the looks of things, I'll be making pom poms for quite some time based on the amount of yarn I purchased! :)

Hope your Christmas was Merry and your New Year is bright!
