OK, I don’t do random very well (not a surprise for those of you who know me IRL!) so maybe I’ll try for weird facts that you probably don’t know instead:
4) Once in high school when I was driving to Star Wars with my mom, we stopped at a stop light and the guy in the car ahead of us leaned out of his window, pointed a gun, and shot at us. The windows in our car were open and we could actually smell the shot but never found a bullet. Instead of going to Star Wars, we spent the afternoon at the police station trying to pick the guy out of a book of felons. (Oh, we never ID'd the guy but we did eventually make it to Star Wars.)
5) I have absolutely no sense of direction. I used to get lost in my high school between classes. I have been hopelessly lost many times, once even ending up in the wrong country. In fact, I got lost just yesterday less than a mile from my house. To those of you reading this and worrying about me: Don’t. I’ve always been directionally challenged. I don’t even think about it anymore. It keeps things interesting.
6) I cut almost everything I eat with a knife. That would include bananas, candy bars, sandwiches, pizza...you name it. (This is probably a carryover from when my jaw was broken and I was on a liquid diet for months.) I catch a lot of grief for this from my family, as you might guess.
7) I keep my toenails polished at all times. My nails are generally a mess, but my toenails always look good.
Wow! Love those tidbits. I can't believe you were shot at; especially when it almost made you miss Star Wars!!! (my post on this meme has some SW references also)
ReplyDeleteWhere the heck did you live? New York? Detroit? Miami? New Jersey???? Holy crap.
Ouch. I never knew you were in an accident and broke your jaw... that must have been awful. And yes, it probably explains your cutting everything with a knife (although it sounds strangely similar to the storyline from that Seinfeld episode).
I too am an introvert IRL... I love having my own office where I can shut the door and work alone. But I also used to speak in public with no qualms. Freaky.
But toenails; that's where our similarities end. Since I nearly LIVE in socks at all times, I rarely paint my toenails.
Great post, as always.
I played and left 7 random facts.
ReplyDeleteLove finding out about all these little goodies about people. Very glad that everything was essentially OK after your car accident! Scary!
ReplyDeletewow!! great blog entry!!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog entry as always Janet. I love learning something new about my blogging friends.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine you being in a car accident of that magnitude. A broken jaw! I really do think that is the stem of your cutting everything you eat.
And wholly cow! being shot at! That is something you don't really hear of much, unless like Maureen stated.. you live in NY,Detroit, Miami, or Jersey.
I have to say that I like being around people, but there are also times that I just want to be by myself. I call it my quite time.
Then there is the whole toenail thing.... I use to get a pedicure every 3 weeks, but about 2 years ago I got a bad infection from them and won't go back. I still don't have a large toenail yet!
Well,I hope you had a terrific weekend.
Great list :) I knew there was something good about that 80s hair - seriously, though, I'm glad you only had such minor injuries; it must have been an awful experience!
ReplyDeleteFrom one introvert to another - have a great week!
GREAT entry...some of those were pretty scary though! Dang! Glad you survived!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visits and comments, guys!
ReplyDeleteMaureen -- The shooting incident occurred in Des Moines, Iowa. Can you believe that? And just so you know...I, too, wear socks almost all the time (even to bed), but my toenails are still polished! :-)
Lynn -- An infection from a pedicure? That sounds dreadful! I feel badly for you. Hope you get that toenail back one of these days!
The accident was a pretty scary thing, that's for sure. I ended up losing some teeth and having some major orthodontics work done, but thankfully that was pretty much it.
No permanent effects, other than using a knife all the time! :-)
Thanks for stopping by! Janet
Janet, you have led a most interesting (and scary, wowee) life...I may have to pass on blogging 7 interesting things about myself, b/c people might just fall asleep reading them, lol. Check my blog in a couple days and see if I came up with anything:) (http://scrappingabyss.blogspot.com/)
