If you've been reading my blog for long, you probably know that kitty mealtime is a real problem around here. Lily is an absolute bully: She steals Tinsel's food every single time unless we are there to actively intervene.
For the past few weeks, we've been feeding Tinsel up on the ladder which was housed in the kitchen during our re-decorating project. That at least slowed Lily down a bit because she had to climb the ladder to get Tinsel's food. But now the ladder is back in the garage and poor Tinsel is stressing again.
Out of desperation, DD devised a new creative mealtime strategy which actually has been working quite well (although DH finds it alarming). She scatters Lily's morsels across the kitchen floor. Lily dashes along from piece to piece, gobbling each one. By the time she reaches the end of her Trail-o-Food, Tinsel has had enough time to finish what's on her plate.
Dinner and exercise at the same time. Can't beat that.
That is a terrific idea by dd! Its kinda of like a treasure hunt for Lily! If she is hungry enough she will continue to leave Tinsel alone while she "hunts" for her food. I love the idea! Have a terrific day.
ReplyDeleteLOL What a neat idea!!
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea! I wonder if it would work for adults! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI think I may have to start that with my little Cupcake.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! With THREE cats now, I am running out of spaces for each one to chow down.... at least so far they don't steal from each other; the dog does that if I'm not quick enough :(
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I'm lucky my cats aren't overweight or anything - I just feed them both a ton in the same bowl. Nimue always eats first & then there's plenty left over for Sugar. I don't know why he always waits for Nimue to eat first, but he always does even though we had him way before we had Nimue.
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative idea! Good for you! Wish I could get my two felines to consider mealtime instead of thinking they should be able to nibble all day.
ReplyDeleteVery clever!! Funny too!
